Throughout his career, Oliver touched the lives of many passengers with his warm smile, unwavering dedication, and commitment to ensuring safe and comfortable journeys for all. Everyone knew him as “The Cowboy Conductor”. Colleagues remember him as a beacon of professionalism and kindness, always willing to go the extra mile to help others. He always had his guitar ready to play anytime. He enjoyed playing music and singing country songs with his friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf with many of his buddies, and spending time with his loving family. He was also an avid cook, who loved making deer jerky, sweets, or anything he saw on TV that he had to try, and he also enjoyed sharing them with his friends.

In addition to his successful career, Oliver was a beloved husband to Merel Dean Walker O’Bryant whom he met in Del Rio in 1978, and later married on February 26, 1981. They had their first child Melissa Lee Ann in 1984. In 1987 their son Wesley Dean was born. Their bond was a source of strength and love that endured the test of time, for 43 years of marriage. They did everything together during their years whether it be at the golf course or down at the American Legion.
