There are seven weeks of school left in this school year. As with every year, we are amazed at how quickly we begin discussing end of year activities. Our time spent with students is always rewarding, and, as Craig Kielburger says, “Time flies when you’re changing the world.”

One constant event this time of the year is the requirement to administer state assessments. At Alpine ISD, we pride ourselves on putting the needs of our students first, and the staff has worked tirelessly to prepare our students for these assessments.

This year is a little different in that since returning to school.

Throughout this school year, we have been charged with making decisions we we will not have data from last year to use as a progress comparison. We are anxiously awaiting the information we will receive from this year’s assessments, however, as this will be a good measure of all the progress our students have made felt were in the best interest of the students. There is never an easy answer to most situations, and we know that while some individuals might support our decisions, there will always be some who don’t. The beauty of situations that involve disagreement is that we can have different opinions, yet still come together and move forward in the best interest of students.

I always say schools are for kids. In keeping with that spirit, Alpine ISD will always make decisions based on the best interest of the kids.

Go Bucks!
