Gloria Martinez was born in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico on August 21, 1951, to Simon and Lorenza. She was raised on a ranch in Ojos Calientes, Chihuahua. Gloria worked at Altuda Ranch in Alpine from 1980 to 2021. She passed away on May 26, at the age of 71 at the White Sands Healthcare in Hobbs, NM.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lorenzo Martinez. Her parents Simon Hernandez and Lorenza Rayos Hernandez. Brothers Pepe Hernandez, Julio Hernandez, Miguel Hernandez and sisters Rita Hernandez, Teresa Hernandez, and Eustolia Hernandez. She is survived by her brothers Dolores Gomez and wife Cruz from Hobbs, NM, Raul Hernandez and wife Martha of Jal, NM, Guadalupe Hernandez of El Porvenir, Mexico. Sisters Rosa Rayos of Amarillo, Cuca Martinez and husband Manuel of San Ignacio, Mexico, Lidia Hernandez, and husband Ricardo of El Porvenir, Mexico, Cristina Hernandez and husband Alejandro of Ft. Davis. Gloria is survived by many nieces and nephews who she saw as her own children.

Gloria’s life passions were working at Altuda Ranch where she spent many years, and was very loved, and shared many years of friendship. Crocheting and sewing many things, making day trips to Ft. Davis before officially moving there.

Words cannot express how deeply we appreciate all the love, kindness, and support shown to us during this difficult time. We are so thankful, and it will always be remembered by the family of Gloria Martinez.

Funeral will take place Friday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery.
