Jimmy was 91 on October 17 and passed away on December 20, in Alpine. He was born in Houston in 1932 to James Branch & Cosette Maud Taylor, both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sons James Garfield Taylor and Spencer Alba Taylor, and siblings Weldon Burns Taylor and Gwendolyn Taylor Gammill.

He lived in Alpine with his wife of 42 years, Barbara Cole Taylor, they previously resided in Terlingua for 17 years. Before that, they lived in Marble Falls, Johnson City, Conroe, and also San Diego County, CA.

He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Cynthia King of Stuart, FL, and her children, Ashley Richardson Mann and her husband Bruce, also of Stuart, and son David Andrew Richardson of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by his son, Bryan Taylor of Montgomery, and his wife Andrea. Also surviving are the children of his brother and sister.

Jimmy was a builder/ contractor for most of his career, a trade he & Barbara loved so much and partnered in that it did not seem like work.

Jimmy was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Texas for 65 years.

He loved to fly, play golf and dominoes, and he loved his black Labrador retrievers. His greatest hobby was being a part of the Chili Appreciation Society International. He served on their board of Directors for 10 years and actively worked at many chili cook-offs for over twenty years, helping to raise money for many charities.

A memorial will be held at a future date at the home of dear friends in Alpine.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the CASI scholarship program, The American Diabetes Association, or The Alzheimer’s Association.
