James Marshall Roberts, Jr. “Jim”, 70, of Marathon, passed away on October 26, in Marathon. Born on February 25, 1953, in Fort Stockton, to James Marshall Roberts, Sr. and Callie Marie Roberts, Jim was the beloved husband of Stephanie Edgar Roberts.

Jim was a dedicated family man and is survived by his loving wife and his sons, John Clinton Roberts “Clint” of Marathon, and William

Clayton Roberts of Midland. Jim was a cherished brother to Marsha Roberts (husband, Gordon) of Marathon, and Donna Davis (husband, Kelly) of Pecos. Jim was preceded in death by his son Donny Lee Roberts. Jim was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to numerous children and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim’s educational journey began with his attendance at Marathon Elementary and subsequent graduation from Marathon High School. He further pursued his higher education at Sul Ross State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree.

Following his graduation from Sul Ross, Jim returned to Marathon where he played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Marathon Water and Sewer Company. Jim’s dedication to providing essential services to the community will always be remembered. Outside of work, Jim found great joy in steer roping, often participating alongside his wife Steph, and a circle of close friends.

Jim’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his hard work, dedication, and love for his family. Jim’s memory will forever be treasured.

A private service will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friends of the Marathon Community Center, P.O. Box 338, Marathon, Texas.
