It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Luis Natera, Sr., on June 29 after a courageous battle with illness. He was born in Alpine on March 4, 1951, to the late Saturnino Natera, Sr. and Victoria Natera. He was a graduate of New Mexico Military Institute, a dedicated

auto mechanic, and a long-term employee of Sul Ross State University. His hobbies included softball, auto repair and restoration, house painting, construction, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his spouse Enedina Natera, son Jose Luis Natera, Jr., daughters Selina Natera Fuentes (and children) and Yvette Natera (and children), his stepchildren Rudy Perez (Ester and children), Melinda Redford (Ron and children), brother Saturnino Natera, Jr. (Cynthia and children) Edmundo Natera (Yolanda and children), sisters Gracie Natera Navarrette (Eddie and children) and Arlene Natera Gonzales (Chayo and children).

Public visitation will take place at the Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel located at 209 W. Sul Ross Avenue on Friday, July 5 from 9 -10 a.m. The praying of the most Holy Rosary will take place at 10 a.m., also at the funeral home chapel. Visitation at the funeral home chapel will continue after the Rosary from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. The funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine at 2 p.m. with interment at Holy Angels Cemetery.

Services have been entrusted to Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.
