Bobbie J. Tanksley

Bobbie J. Tanksley went to be with her Lord, on October 15, in Menard. She was born on July 15, 1945, to Bill and Marie Brickey in San Antonio. She was a longtime resident of Alpine, where she was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio in 1964. She married Charles “Butch” Tanksley in 1966 and they had two daughters. She was a whiz with numbers and spent her years as an accountant, always sharing her knowledge with anyone who needed help. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV and was especially fond of the Big Bend area.

Brad Rhea McGuire

Bradford Rhea Mc-Guire, of Alpine, passed away October 9 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Brad is survived by his wife, Karen McGuire. A celebration of life service will be held on November 11 at Hillside Baptist Church in Alpine at 1:30 p.m.

David H. Vandervoort

David “Dave” Vandervoort, 89, of Paradise Valley, AZ & Alpine went to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 9 at his residence. He was born in Texas to Henry Carl Vandervoort Senior and Velma Vandervoort. At 14, he learned to fly a tail dragger and was a distinguished varsity Panther golfer at Paschal High who caddied for Ben Hogan at Colonial Country Club. In 1947, Dave earned the Carnegie Medal for Heroism with Katie Beth Hunter for rescuing the two Ledbetter children from a capsized rowboat at a Fort Worth farm lake. Later Dave met his wife, Susie, while attending Texas A&M University at College Station. They married in the late 50’s and upon Dave’s graduation from Texas A&M in the Corps, they moved with the United States Air Force.

OBITUARY Doyle Eugene Pearce, 61, of Alpine passed in peace at his home on September 26. Doyle was born on October 31, 1961, in Kingfi sher, Oklahoma to Inez Ruth Pearce and the late Paul Clayton Pearce, Sr. In 1985, he married his ex-wife Belinda Espinoza in Alpine, and together they welcomed three children Dolores Ruth Savery, Doyle Clayton Pearce, and Charles Allen Pearce all of Alpine.

Diana Gay Martin Thomas, 77 of Alpine, passed away September 15. She was born May 4, 1946, in Cuero, the daughter of the late William Daniel and Estelle Martin. On July 2, 1964, she married Walter H. Thomas in Midland.

Elizabeth McLean

Lifelong resident of Alpine, Elizabeth McLean, age 96, passed away on September 24. She was born to the late Kurt and Anna Lange in Alpine, on November 17, 1926. Elizabeth attended Alpine Schools and Graduated in 1943. She then attended Sul Ross State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science McLean in 1943. She is Survived by her two children, Clinnell McLean (Jerry) and Marshall Lange McLean. Grandchildren: Kiley McComb (Valerie) Krystel Mc-Comb Kiser (Aaron), Kasey McComb (Erin), Jody McLean, Wyatt McLean, (Alondra) Garrett McLean and Jillian Torres (William). Greatgrandchildren, Amanda McLean, Kaylan Kiser, degree and a Master of Education.

Monserratt Dominguez Curtis

It is with great sadness that the family of Monserratt “Monsey” Dominguez Curtis announce her passing on September 12, at the age of 92, in San Antonio. Monserratt was born to Pedro and Santos Dominguez of Balmorhea on September 19, 1930. Monserratt is preceded in death by her loving husband, Oscar Levake Curtis.
