Zane Billings, son of Dr. Adrian and Susan Billings and a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 41 earned the rank of Eagle Scout at a board of review on Nov. 12, 2022. Billings was recognized for his achievement recently at a Court of Honor ceremony held on Sunday, March 5 at the American Legion Post 79. He was presented his Eagle Award by Scoutmaster Hector Holguin. Eagle Scout is the highest rank one can reach in the BSA. Only 5% of all scouts who join reach the ranking of Eagle Scout. Dr. Albert Myer

Body
When Dr. Albert Myer joined the U.S. Army as an Assistant Surgeon, it was doubtful he thought he would spend time on the frontier of Texas, including Fort Davis. The wilds of frontier Texas were not the most desired posting. Over to the east at Fort Lancaster, the Army had difficulty keeping officers, much less doctors. Dr. J.D.B. Stillman, from New York, was on his way west documenting his transcontinental journey by stagecoach when he was hired to serve, temporarily for two months, at that most isolated garrison.
